Unraveling Cognitive Distortions

Identify a pervasive negative thought and describe why it may be a cognitive distortion.

Cognitive distortions are ways our mind convinces us of something that isn’t really true. Identifying and challenging these distortions can help manage anxiety. Include in your journal entry the details of the situation which provoked the thought, explain the feelings associated with it and reason out why it may not be a true representation of reality. This exercise encourages mindfulness and self-analysis.
