Write a horror story where the horrific entity can only be heard, not seen.

The unseen is often scarier than what can be seen. It leaves a vast room for imagination and speculation. The character can only hear the entity’s whispers, laughter, or footsteps. How does the character react to the escalating situation without being able to see the danger? What does the sound resemble? How can it be fought if it can’t be seen? This prompt focuses on auditory senses and speculation, inducing a psychological terror that can be more nerve-wracking than visual horror.
