Staring Down the Mirror

Write a monologue using a mirror as a symbol, discovering truths about yourself you’d previously been unaware or in denial of.

Mirrors reflect our physical existence, but they can also symbolize self-doubt, vanity, fear, introspection or revelation. Stand in front of the mirror and let your internal self, not just your outer appearance, gaze back at you. In this monologue, unearth and confront truths about yourself that you weren’t aware of, conveniently ignored, or outright denied. This exercise encourages self-exploration, introspection, and acceptance of our strengths and flaws alike.
