Find a silver lining in the traumatic event that had a significant impact on your development.

Focus on strengths or skills that you developed as a consequence of this event. You could have become more resilient, empathetic, or have a clearer understanding of your values as a result of your experiences. This does not mean negating the pain and suffering, but rather acknowledging that every story has different aspects and sometimes personal growth can come from painful events. Exploring this point of view can bring a sense of empowerment and even facilitate acceptance.
