Pandora’s Box

Create a scene where your main character stumbles upon a mysterious box that may or may not contain something horrific.

Whether this box is literal, metaphoric, or virtual, it sets the stage for an ample amount of suspense. What is in the box? How does your character react upon discovering it? How does the fear of uncertainty heighten the tension, and how might the suspense build as they decide whether or not to open it?
