Every good storytelling involves some amount of mystery. Make your readers squirm in their seats, by developing a villain whose intentions are vague at first. Is he the sweet old man next door with a hidden vendetta or a new friendly face in town nurturing deadly secrets? Unravel the mystery, bit by bit – the intrigue will instill a deep sense of foreboding and increase the anticipation.
