Choose one emotion and write about several occasions when you have felt it intensely.

This exercise can help you to explore both positive and negative emotions. Look back over your life and notice patterns, how did the feeling of joy during your graduation differ from the joy of your first love? What made the anger at a friend’s betrayal different from the anger towards an unjust boss? It will help you understand not just your emotions, but the situations that evoke them and your unique personal responses.
