Riddles and conundrums introduce intellectual conflict to the narrative. They engage the protagonist and their allies in a battle of wits and deepen the plot. How does the protagonist interpret these perplexing pieces of information? Do they grind their quest to a halt, or are they merely a frustrating hurdle to overcome? Remember to frame the riddle in a way that is tricky, but not impossible for your characters (or readers) to decipher.
