Perspective Shift

Write a story from the perspective of an inanimate object you use daily.

Imagine what experiences and daily dramas a commonly used object such as a pen, a coffee mug, or your smartphone might “witness”. This unconventional exercise encourages writers to wholly inhabit a different perspective, and it can be a fascinating practice in viewpoint and observational writing. It could also lead to exploring themes such as monotony, intimacy, or the mundanity of life from a unique angle.
