Construct a story where the main character falls in love with someone who loves him/her back, but the characters don’t know it because their love letters to each other, which contain their confessions, get lost in the mail.
In this dramatically ironic twist, the lovers’ messages of affection are lost, leaving each to believe their love is unrequited. At the same time, the reader knows the reality of the situation but can’t alter the course of events. This writing prompt forces you to examine the frustrations of love and the potential vulnerability that comes from expressing it.
