Create a scenario where a character is on the verge of revealing a momentous secret, but gets interrupted.

Creating suspense often involves floating critical information just out of the reader’s reach. Construct a deeply emotional or dark secret, and create a situation where the character is about to reveal it, perhaps as a confession, only for the moment to be abruptly truncated.
