Choose a newspaper scrap or magazine clipping that you have saved at your home. Write about the event in the clip from an alternative perspective.

This prompt introduces the idea of perspective and gives history a personal touch. The alternative viewpoint can range from another person, an animal, or even an inanimate object present during the scene. This takes the children beyond the confines of the existing narrative, to explore unseen corners and unheard voices, substantial for learning empathy, and critical thinking.
