Write a short story in a genre you’re unfamiliar with.
This writing prompt will push your boundaries and challenge your creativity as you dabble in a genre outside of your comfort zone. This might be sci-fi, historical fiction, romance, horror, or any genre you’re not accustomed to. You’ll have to research and understand the tropes, conventions, and styles of this new genre. This is an excellent exercise for expanding your narrative range and exploring new styles of storytelling.
