Your villain’s motivation arises from a desperate attempt to survive or protect a loved one.

Desperation could push a character to make choices they wouldn’t usually contemplate. What makes your villain desperate? What choices and actions are they forced into to ensure their survival or that of a loved one? This prompt asks for the exploration of complex emotions, relationships, societal systems, and possibly, the human instinct for survival.
