Colliding Cultures

Write about a person experiencing culture shock in a foreign land and how they navigate the conflicts arising from cultural differences to eventually find acceptance.

Our world is a mosaic of cultures, and often when one travels or moves to a different country, culture shock can be an overwhelming experience. This prompt allows the writer to explore themes of diversity, acceptance and adaptation. Key questions to be explored could include ‘How does the character deal with cultural differences?’, ‘What conflicts arise?’,’How do they bridge the cultural gap?’ and ‘What does resolution look like to them?’.
