A ghost’s haunting often has a purpose, a reason tied to their past life or death. Was a betrayal involved, is there a mystery they need help solving, or is there a message they want to convey? This allows room for tension, mystery, and adds depth and motive to the character, transforming the ghost from a haunting spirit to a protagonist with goals.
